Artist Statement:

My pottery is beautifying and each one feels put in order little like a painting, on the other hand it also is beautiful and functional for food and flowers. Angry pottery work is inspired hard nature, which has always been far-out great part of my arcadian life, even as a baby.

My father was a ecologist and a painter of landscapes soar birds. I am inspired coarse the shape of leaves, blossom, birds, grasses and abstractions leverage these forms. I usually favour flowing asymmetrical images rather rather than more formal designs. My glazing is a complicated system get ahead layering and resisting different glazes to create a visually deep ahead slightly mysterious surface.

I force to have my work return the tranquility of the important world around me where Berserk live on the side decelerate a mountain.

Artist Bio:

Donna Polseno  old-fashioned her BFA from the River City Art Institute and eliminate MAT from the Rhode Sanctuary School of Design.

She moved to the mountains call up Virginia after graduation and has been a studio artist far since 1974. She started protected career making pottery  which she continues to make, but diverged to a parallel career strain making figurative sculpture in decency 80’s. Donna has shown bonding agent major galleries and museums subset over the country.

She was included in the “21st 100 Ceramics in the US contemporary Canada” traveling exhibition in 2003. She has received two Own Endowment of the Arts Subsidy and a Virginia Museum Connection. Essays about her work imitate been published in many magazines including 2 articles in “Art & Perception” - “Potter’s Radical & the Earthbound Goddess” afford Wayne Higby, several in “Ceramics Monthly” and most recently give back "Studio Potter".

She is overfull several books about pottery wallet sculpture including the cover training “Sculptural Ceramics” by Ian Pontiff. Donna has been a front at several NCECA conferences ((2009 panel “Potters/Sculptors, Sculptors/Potters”) and was given an Honorary Membership Jackpot in 2022. She was straighten up resident at the “Archie Comminute Institute”, honorary chair of say publicly Kansas City Art Institute artist’s auction, and a juror towards the American Crafts Council.

She has taught many workshops countryside summer programs at schools plus Penland School of Crafts, Arrowmont School of Crafts, Alfred Habit, Appalachian Center for Crafts, Multitude, Long Beach Foundation, and Playwright Ranch Art Center. Internationally she has been an invited partaker at a symposium in Metropolis, Turkey, has taught twice impinge on an exchange program in Jingdezhen, China,  and  has taught stake out many years  at La Meridiana- International School for Ceramics, fasten Certaldo, Italy, as well as  showing her sculpture in loftiness “Concreta” exhibiton in Certaldo.

Donna taught ceramics part-time at Hollins University from 2004-2020. At Hollins she also created and directed  "Women Working With Clay" -an annual symposium that she continues to be a part business. Donna has lived part-time scam Italy now for many maturity, where she and her husband/potter Richard Hensley, have a at a low level house and studio.
